Peer Tutee Sign Up

Thank you for your interest in peer tutoring. If you would like to have a peer tutor to support you in your learning, please read about the program with your parent/guardian and complete this form.

About the Peer Tutoring Program:

The program will be available to grade 7-12 students. Student pairings will meet together at least once a week, either in person before or after school, or on Zoom. Teacher supervisors will be available to students via email if needed. The tutors will receive training in how to be effective and supportive tutors. Students will be paired with a student who is skilled and experienced in the required subject.

Expectations:

1. Respond to your peer tutor and agree upon a time to meet regularly and at which location. Check your email daily, gmail calendar invites, and/or exchange phone numbers. On occasion either you or your tutor will have to cancel a meeting and this is the best way to keep each other informed.

2. If you do have to cancel a meeting with your tutor for a good reason, please let your tutor know ahead of time and offer a new time/day to meet. Missing two sessions without notice or a good reason means that you no longer want to be part of the program.

3. Be punctual. Out of respect for your tutor, please make sure that you are at your meeting at the agreed upon time.

4. Be prepared. Choose a central location in the home or a quiet location in the classroom for tutoring. Make sure you have all the materials you need, including: textbooks, calculator (for math), dictionary (for French), notebook, a laptop with charger, earphones, and a writing utensil.

5. Adhere to the Branksome Hall Student Code of Conduct.

6. If you have any concerns (e.g. you have problems communicating or meeting with your tutor) or if you no longer wish to participate, please let your Club Heads know.

Subjects eligible for tutoring are: Math, French, Spanish, Latin, the sciences and occasionally history and geography. Please indicate which subject you would like to be tutored. Be specific (e.g. Math A&A SL).

Are you in boarding?

I agree to follow the expectations of the Peer Tutoring program. I understand that all aspects of Branksome Hall’s Code of Conduct is applicable during tutoring sessions.

I have discussed and informed my parent/guardian about my participation in and the expectations of the Peer Tutoring Program.
